Pacific Island News Web Site

The site includes daily news material from Hawaii, reports from the Pacific islands, PACNEWS, Radio Australia and Radio New Zealand. There are links to other Pacific island web pages, research report excerpts, official government documents, and book excerpts. The site was developed by Al Hulsen, president and general manager emeritus of Hawaii Public Radio, who now is a visiting fellow in the East-West Center Pacific Islands Development Program. Assisting PIDP with the project are the University of Hawaii Center for Pacific Islands Studies, on-the-job journalism trainees from the Pacific islands, and EWC/UH student interns. The Pasifik Nius news digest is the successor to Papua Niugini Nius, founded by Journalism Studies, University of Papua New Guinea with Pactok Communications in 1996. Te Vaka

Te Vaka is a group of dancers and musicians from Polynesia. Based in New Zealand, the band has released four internationally acclaimed albums, and been nominated for two BBC World Music Awards, amongst many other achievements. Their stunning blend of original, traditionally influenced Polynesian world music has been injecting people all over with it's infectious pulsating log drum rhythms and uplifting melodies. Trout. A South Pacific Journal of the Arts

A project of the University of Auckland, Trout commenced in January 1997 and "...is intended to provide a forum for the poetry, prose,reviews, interviews and artwork of or about New Zealand and/or PacificIslands writers and artists. Washington Post (Asia-Pacific Section)

Not exactly "Pacific Islands Media", but a source of information from major (American) news gathering sources about the Pacific Islands. Each section contains information from The Post itself and Associated Press, (USA) State Department Notes, The CIA World Factbook entry for the place, weather, stocks and currency and Internet links. The site contains these details for the following Pacific places: American Samoa, Fiji, French Polynesia, Guam, Micronesia, New Caledonia, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn Island, Tonga, Vanuatu, and Western Samoa.
